Archive Question #0073

Where would you put ammeters in a parallel circuit?

This depends on what you want to achieve. One way to see what happens to the current is to put an ammeter in line with the battery, then also put one in each branch of the parallel circuit. Do the sum of the branches add to the total? Try it to find out. More info on parallel circuits is at www.curriculumvisions.com. At the home page look under electricity.
