Archive Question #0088

I have to write a thousand word essay on salt- anyone know anything?

Common Salt is Sodium Chloride but salt is also a general term for the result of any chemical reaction between any Alkali metal and any Halogen so between, for example, Lithium, Potassium, Sodium and, for example, Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine or Iodine. So Potassium Bromide is also a salt. I think the 'salts' of a chemical reaction don't even have to be resulting from these two groups either - its a general term for the result of a chemical combination reaction. Best to stick with common salt I think.
