Tip #11

Pay attention to your teachers marking

You are going to spend some significant time and effort completing your homework assignments. This effort is matched by your teachers who spend large amounts of time marking your work.

As your teachers marks your work they are thinking of a number of things, such as:

  • Hmmm. thats well done
  • OK - you got it wrong there - but it was a small mistake
  • Oh! - you don't understand
  • Great idea - I will use that one later on
  • Good work - presentation let it down
  • When can I ever finish this marking...

And as they mark, they will usually write comments on your work (often they do this in red pen - why red - don't ask me but if you do ever find out let me know).

Look at how your work has been marked and pay attention to the comments provided by your teacher. If anything is not clear, arrange to see your teacher and discuss what they were trying to say when they marked your work.
