Tip #17

Maths - check your answers with a calculator

When you have completed your maths homework, check your answers with a calculator.

Some people may say that using a calculator is cheating. If used correctly, it will help you to understand any mistakes you might make.

It is important that you use a calculator:

  • When you have finished your work
  • to check your calculations
  • correct answers if incorrect.

Note: If you make a mistake, you may want to correct it. Make sure you make it clear that you have changed a mistaken calculation, and enter the correct calculation next to, or after the mistaken calculation.

Your teacher will want to see what mistake you have made, and how you have corrected it.
